Micro habits. They can fill a life with purpose and conviction. It starts with something so small each day that it hardly makes a difference in time and effort. It could have long lasting effects for your health and well-being. For example, a glance at the headlines in whatever news source you use. A four or five minute plank. Reading a passage from the Bible or Stoics. Making the bed. Drinking a full glass of water while brushing your teeth. And then there is flossing (my dentist friends have got to love that one as a PSA!). Cuddling with a dog or cat (if they let you!) or even playing your turn/move on an online game as WordsWithFriends. Maybe you already do this. Those are micro habits.

The other day I “caught” my hubby, Bill, working on some of his micro habits during his morning routine. Here, I think, he is catching up with something he reads on his phone each morning. The crux is that is only for a few minutes, not the whole morning.

With a new year upon us, I wonder if there are some micro habits you can fit into your schedule. It doesn’t have to be a long drawn out thing, rather something that could be fun, educational, even entertaining. It builds over time, and that is the magic!
