Over a month ago, I worked on a Panda-Mania Quilt “kit” that I bought from one of my deceased guild members’ fabric stashes. From the moment I bought it, I knew the kit and fabric included would be perfect for our yearly show at the U.S. Patuxent Wildlife Refuge Center in Laurel, Maryland.
The show opened yesterday and will run all month. Today, the Refuge Center hosted its annual arts and crafts sale, which attracted 20+ vendors and hundreds of people in and out of the center. Many walked by our little show, and the quilts were well received.
I love working on creative sewing/quilting pieces to invigorate all my sewing projects, such as T-shirt quilts (my main bread and butter). This quilt is purposely off-center, and I used several elements on the top and backing (not shown) to finish almost all of the panda fabric. It's for sale for $150.
If you are local and have never been to the Refuge Center, it is quite remarkable. I highly recommend spending a morning or afternoon in pure beauty on hundreds of acres. Birding is one of the top highlights. People of all ages are mesmerized by the number of birds that flit this way and that over the large "campus." And...the quiet and stillness (except for the breezes that may gently sway the branches high above) is what many seek out to relax and be in nature.

Love the quilting-for-a-cause story and a great way to build awareness of the center. Great idea and that it ties back to someone who passed. Lovely quilt too.
