If you've been, thankfully, following along with my backyard birdies, the eggs hatched over the last couple of days. The first hatch was about four days ago, and one little peeper looked up at me when I looked in the birdhouse. Two blue eggs were still in the same places as they were last week.
Today, I looked in once again and whistled them "awake". By golly, all three hatchlings looked up and opened their mouths to me. I was also looking around the trees to see if Mama Bird was watching me and whether or not there'd be screeching since I got pretty darn close to them. I would never hurt them; I am curious about them being fed by at least one Mama bird. I have not seen any fly into our birdhouse yet. I may not be looking when someone flies in with food.
I tried to take a few photos, but only one looks good enough to post. But the 10-second video shows off these cuties quite nicely.
Mama bird has to be close by!
