Do you notice small acts of kindness? We like to call them "micro-kindnesses." They are all over the place if one tunes into them. Opening a door, waving to your neighbors, and picking up trash are some of the easier ones to see and do.
It's the ones with nuances that are exactly what you think they are, perhaps, yet never expressed—our day motors on with nary a look back.
But how about if we do look back?
Hubby Bill and I are in a Kindloook movement started by our Australian friend, Daniel Burns! Do you know how many people are needed to start a movement? If you guessed (2), you, my friend, are correct! Check out how to start a movement. The video has been out for a while, but it will surely resonate!
So, Bill and I love "micro-moments and micro-kindnesses." I like to use the term "Manufacturing Sunshine." Heck, that's the name of my blog!
Here is one that happened over this past weekend in Richmond, Virginia, that I shared on the Kindloook website - highlighted in pink above (anyone can join - it's worldwide, so please consider doing so).
Kindness in Richmond, Virginia
We were in RVA visiting my daughter and her young family this past weekend. I had made a tray of roasted vegetables, but that was not nearly enough to feed four adults, one a big eater on Friday evening. My daughter suggested ordering take-out Chinese. Everyone was on board with the idea and offered menu options for ordering.
My daughter placed the order and made the payment online. Two minutes later, she remembered her husband wanted the sweet and sour soup. It was too late to add to the order online, so she called the establishment. A kind woman answered the phone, and my daughter explained the snafu. "No problem," the lady said, "I give you free soup - no charge." She added, "You give big orders, so no charge for soup."
My daughter and I looked at each other, and I immediately exclaimed, "This is a micro-kindness." Simple, easy, and the complimentary soup offer on our order made our evening even sweeter! Thank you to that local Chinese Take-Out place called Yum Yum! Heck, it was so thoughtful that I've written up this sweet little story to share!
What micro-kindness have you seen (or done) lately? Please share if you can. Anyone can benefit from reading about micro-moments and kindnesses! It all helps our orbits.
bSoleille!
