When You're With People, You're With People - BGGGW Weekend!

I love people! Luckily, I've been blessed to have several trips over the past several months, including my family, sewing sisters, global writing cohorts, high school friends, and, most recently, college friends (BGGGW—Bowling Green Girls Gone Wild Weekend).

Crafting a decent blog post that may only take one or two minutes to read may take me 30-60 minutes to execute (especially when I include photos and links). And...when I am with people, it may be difficult to slip away to peck on my computer or phone to post something.

So, I waited to share this post with you until I was home from Kelleys Island, Ohio. Our hostesses, Jodie and Scot Smith, opened their lovely island home to college friends/teammates, Rosalie Franek, Laura Hennessey, Laura Murphy, and me. Some of us have been friends since we were 15-16 years old (we met before college on the track, competing for different high schools), and all of us met each other by the time we were 18 years old. I'll help with the math; we've been friends for over four decades!

The blessing in this detail is the deepening of our collective friendships. We caught up on travels, kids and grandkids, hiked, biked, dined, shopped, and cooked. I must add that Kelleys Island only has a few restaurants and we went to two shops. Two of us brought dinner meals to feed all of us. On Friday and Saturday, we were on our bicycles to see the sights and sounds of the island - a lot was going on for this past weekend in October. The temperatures were mild enough, and the sun was usually shining. I was the only one (thank goodness) who got a flat tire on a bike borrowed from Jodie, and we were not too far from home. Jodie was able to swap out the disabled bike with a beach cruiser (I had to keep reminding myself to use my feet to turn backward on the pedals to break since it has only one gear!).

One night was so mild that we ate dinner outside on the porch at sunset with the last vestiges of light bouncing off Lake Erie.

I can't thank Jodie and the BG Girls enough for a wonderful weekend on KI. We exchanged thoughts and goals and supported each other in our efforts to effect change in our worlds. I am grateful to be in their esteemed company.

Since I love to take many photos (so do the others), I have many to choose from to share the island's fun. Below is a sampling of the activities.
