I couldn’t wait to get down to Williamsburg to meet up with writing friends Katy Dalgleish and Julies Rains (and their husbands) to take in the beauty and history of such an iconic micro-city that Williamsburg was for 101 years. This is the second time in as many years to visit the “campus” where the brilliant minds of our founding fathers made clandestine decisions to usurp the United Kingdom’s power in America!
Not only are those gone by days so intriguing, but today was especially significant as CW rolled out the fife and drum corps (and even real live veterans) to celebrate all veterans of foreign and domestic wars in the USA.
Since Julie was still en route to CW, the Tomoffs and Dalgleishes even “marched” with the other parade people from the Capitol to the Palace Green.
It was poignant and profound, and I never celebrated 11/11/Armistice Day/Veteran’s Day like I/we did today. What a day and memory for the ages!
Technically, the Veteran's Holiday is celebrating its 70th year today! Not here in CW; this day goes back about 250+ years (they don't discriminate against wars here or abroad). I can’t blame the plan to include all wars - on this land or in foreign lands.
I am grateful to all those who served our country.
Thank you!
bSoleille!
